A cell phenotype observed in the vegetative growth phase of the life cycle in which the amount of 4,6-pyruvylated D-galactose (4,6-O-[(1R)-1-carboxyethylidene]-D-galactose) measured at the cell surface is normal (i.e. indistinguishable from wild type).
